sdajkOn May 3rd, 2013 Officer Frederick Garrasi III was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. Freddy was only 24 at the time of his passing. In Freddy’s short 24 years he was a large part of his community and impacted so many people with his charming smile, hardworking attitude, and witty personality. June 21st, 2014 we will be holding the second annual F.G. III Memorial 5k run. All the money raised from the event will be placed into an annual scholarship fund.The Grand Finale!

On June 9, 2024 at 10am we will be holding The 10th and final F.G. III Memorial 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk at Lake Erie Beach Firehall. All money raised from the event will be placed into an annual Scholarship Fund and two separate awards will be granted each year to graduating seniors at Lake Shore Central in honor of Freddy. These two awards include "The Patrolman Award" and "The Compassionate Mentor Award".
This is a family and kid friendly event.
There will be Balloons, Airbrush Tattoos
and other children activities to enjoy

Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the 5K Virtual Race before 5/17 when we order our shirts. You choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk your 5K any time in the months of June or July. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page any time during the months of June/July. We'll automatically mail out your race shirt about a week after the race.
